A live electronic band with a mainstay focus positioned firmly at the dancefloor. You can't help but move to the infectious grooves, catchy melodies, lush chords and tribalistic beats. With influences from both the DJ booth and the live festival stage; think of a musical
foundation built on techno, house and dance, but played with an experimental approach incorporating traditional instruments in addition to machines. From beginnings in 2013, URTEKK has found praise and air time on radio and the blogosphere from around the country and earned a nomination in South Australiaʼs ʻFowlers Live Music Awardsʼ for best electronic artist before a debut festival appearance at Wide Open Space Festival (NT). Backing the debut self-titled EP with the 3-part music and film release DM3, the band has seen a healthy run of shows from the small venue to the festival scenes, featuring performances at Rainbow Serpent Festival (Vic), the Clipsal 500 After Race Conference Series (SA), BigSound (Qld), a second stint for a headline slot at Wide Open Space and the revered WOMADelaide (SA) saw the band play to a packed crowd with an electric energy, with reviews solidifying the band's reputation as a live performance powerhouse. The band's most recent single release, 'Pockets', earned praise from the online and radio spheres from across the country, including Thump (Vice) and Triple J amidst the response. Having spent the previous few months tucked away in the caves of musical exploration amidst the many noise makers and spaghetti'd cables, after many a twiddled dial, pressed keys and plucked strings, new sounds are etching closer and closer from the horizon. After closing the festival at Clare Valley's Blenheim Music and Camping Festival in the wee hours of a magical night in March 2015, URTEKK are back again to deliver the same good times for the 2017 instalment of the festival over the Easter long weekend.
